A Primitive Decorating Tip from The Pumpkin Queen Herself :)

One of the quickest ways to make a country room look prim is by adding pottery to those cupboards and wall shelves. A pottery collection is something that you just have to take the leap and start buying. If you are doing redware in a cupboard then stick to just redware in that cupboard. If you choose to collect salt glaze pottery then stick to salt glaze. Don't try mixing pieces in your storage piece because it just doesn't work! Plates are a wonderful place to start. There are word plates...there are sgriffito plates where the clay is etched and color applied...there are plates with colonial designs applied using slip. Any of those are a wonderful starting place. Now salt glaze is another story. I love a mix of salt glazed pieces and my favorites are pitchers but crocks are wonderful too. If you want to see a wonderful selection you must come to Pumpkin House Primitives because we sell pottery from many of the top Early American Life magazine's potters who have won recognition for their fine work.

Until the next time I bid thee a fond farewell.
