Well, for you who are now reading this you must be wondering why there is a new name for my gift shop. We have been Whispering Wisteria House for 12 years and so why in the world change a good thing? But with time things sometime have to change andsometimes that can be a good thing. With that in mind, I decided to change my business name because I am going to start advertising at our interstate exit with signage and to have just Whispering Wisteria House would not identify what and who we are. But with being located in a pumpkin painted house and trying to come up with just the right name....well Pumpkin House Primitives seemed the perfect name. When travelers see the new name on the signage they will more likely want to stop and check us out.
Pumpkin House Primitives has grown these past 12 years and I could not have done it without wonderful customers who have come back time and time again to shop here. We even built on twice during those years as primitive country became more popular in our area. Our cozy little 1100 square foot shop is just plum full of country treasures to tempt the primitive country lover. You will find everything from seasonal florals to cupboards and more and if you go to the wares page you will get a little sampling of all the items we offer here at Pumpkin House Primitives. The shop is located at 3222 Morning Road in the charming town of Hurricane, West Virginia and we sincerely hope when you are in our area you will stop by and see us.
When you visit be sure to plan some time for browsing too because there are primitive wares in every nook and cranny here and a few times around the shop may be in store to see it all. I pride myself in looking for those unique country wares to fit the style of the shop. Most things are made in America too although sometimes we have to buy from companies that do have items made in India and China. It is almost impossible these days not to. But something funny I learned several years ago while visiting beautiful Old Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts with my hubby. I asked the store keeper there about why everything was from overseas. Silly me! Our nation was just in its beginning stages and so almost everything did come from the Orient and Europe. That stayed with me and so today when I do order some things from overseas it doesn't bother me as badly. I have to buy things that cause my heart to smile and that I think our customers will like. But I do honor our nations craftsmen and buy as much American made items as I can.
How do you find us? Follow WV I-64 to Hurricane, Exit 34. Our new signage will be up very soon so be watching!
Go to the traffic light and make a left onto Rt. 34 and go two blocks. You will see the Hurricane Rite Aid Pharmacy and you make a left there onto East Lynn Street. Go one block after turning left and you will see our pumpkin house with the old picket fence around the front yard. Just pull into the parking area and the entrance to the shop is there before you. For turn by turn directions just use the MapQuest appelet located on the left. We look forward to having you visit us soon!
